The people of the Great Plains historically have adapted to this challenging climate. Although projections suggest more frequent and more intense droughts, severe rainfall events, and heat waves, communities and individuals can reduce vulnerabilities through the use of new technologies, community-driven policies, and the judicious use of resources. Prepared for the National Climate Assessment and a landmark study in terms of its breadth and depth of coverage, Great Plains Technical Input Report is the result of a collaboration among numerous local, state, federal, and nongovernmental agencies to develop a comprehensive, state of the art look at the effects of climate change on the eight states that encompass the Great Plains region.

on Janu The Northern Great Plains population was listed as threatened1. Critical habitat was designated on the Northern Great Plains breeding grounds on Septem Critical habitat was designated for all populations of piping plovers on the wintering grounds on J , and redesignated in and Southern Great Plains.
